I’m Afonso Melara. Born in Lisbon and shaped by Alcácer do Sal since the age of 12, I grew up between river landscapes, Atlantic tides and the quiet rhythm of the Alentejo. A surfer along the Comporta coastline, a canyoning explorer in the mountains of Marvão, and a lifelong traveller driven by curiosity and place.
 

My connection to history and territory runs deep. It was shaped early on by my mother, a history teacher, and my father, a local architect, teaching me to read landscapes, understand context and value what time leaves behind.
 

For over six years, I have worked in tourism creating immersive experiences that go beyond the obvious. I am the founder of Marvão Adventure and hold a Master’s degree in Active and Experiential Tourism from the Estoril Higher School of Hospitality and Tourism. My journey has taken me across Southeast Asia and South America, guiding travellers, exploring remote regions and refining a personal approach to storytelling through experience.
 

Comporta Experience is a natural extension of this path. Each experience is personally designed and guided by me, combining adventure, water, land and local culture. These are not standard tours, but signature experiences shaped by rhythm, silence and authenticity. As your guide, I share Comporta as I know it, through hidden trails, timeless rice fields and moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.
